With universities, libraries and community centers closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been challenging for blood donation centers to reach the voluntary blood donors they need, particularly the next generation of donors.

But experts are coming up with creative solutions to connect with young people, from partnering with cricket team influencers in India to conducting blood drives at condominiums in Rio de Janeiro. Many are also using Facebook’s Blood Donations feature, which lets people sign up to receive notifications about opportunities to donate blood at nearby blood donation centers.
