On October 28, 2021 at our Connect virtual conference, Mark Zuckerberg and other Facebook leaders shared our vision for the metaverse and revealed our new company brand, Meta, to signal our focus on the future. We believe this new era as Meta is a natural evolution for our business as the metaverse will help us get closer to achieving our company mission to bring people together in ways never before possible.
The metaverse is a set of digital spaces that are all interconnected so you can easily move between them. It will feel like a hybrid of today’s online social experiences, sometimes expanded into three dimensions or projected into the physical world. It will let you share immersive experiences with other people even when you can’t be together — and do things together you couldn’t do in the physical world.
This vision is still in the earliest stages; many of these products will only be fully realized in the next 5-10 years. That’s why as we plan for this future, we are still laser-focused on building and improving our existing tools and apps that people and organizations like yours use every day. The metaverse is our vision for the future, but helping you succeed is our priority today and everyday.
So how we work together will remain unchanged; we’ll now be representing Meta. We look forward to continuing our partnership as we embark on this new chapter of our journey together.
